Zac Efron, the protagonist of ‘High School Musical’ and ‘Hairspray’ returns to get on stage in the film that arrives at theaters on December 29th.
Zac Efron gained some fame within the world of the cinema thanks to his participation in the three deliveries of High School Musical or to appear next to John Travolta in Hairspray. These four films marked his short period as a singer and gave way to a career dominated by dramas and comedies like 17 again, Neighbours (2014), Dirty Grandpa or Baywatch. Ten years after playing his last song on the big screen, the 30-year-old actor has decided to return to the musical genre with The Greatest Showman, a film that co-stars with Zendaya and Hugh Jackman.
Zac Efron and Zendaya show their connection by singing ‘Rewrite the Stars’ for the movie The Greatest Showman. On December 29, “The Greatest Showman” arrives in theaters, a musical in which Hugh Jackman plays Phineas Taylor Barnum, a visionary who created the entertainment industry in the mid-nineteenth century with the legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus.

The protagonist manages to make history thanks to his partner Philip, played by Zac Efron, a young dreamer who falls in love with one of the trapeze artists of the company to which Zendaya gives life. After jumping to stardom with the youth saga High School Musical, Zac Efron returns to the genre of musicals with this film directed by Michael Gracey.
“I knew that this was the best project to take them back,” says the American actor. Phillip Carlyle, the partner of the creator of the circus played by Efron, has a great connection with Anne, one of the trapeze artists of the company played by Zendaya.
Despite the rejection of the parents of the young entrepreneur, who believe that the artist could endanger the status of his family, Philip and Anne forget social norms and are carried away by their feelings with the song ‘Rewrite the Stars’.
“I wanted it to be a unique love song, sometimes we used doubles, but 90% of everything was done by Zac and Zendaya, they trained very hard to make the number work,” says the film’s director.
Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, winners of the Oscar Award for Best Original Song for ‘City of Stars’, the main theme of La La Land are the heads of the soundtrack for the film.
The reason why Zac has decided to sing and dance before the eyes of millions of people is because “I knew that this was the best project to take them back [the musicals] and get involved.” This is what Efron himself explains in the video that you will find below and that explores his role in the feature film, the love story he shares with the Spider-Man: Homecoming actress on screen and a new song titled “Rewrite The Stars”.
“The lyrics reflect what the characters live, what they feel,” says Zendaya before her co-star clarifies that in her they ask things like “Can we be in love? Do we break the rules and rewrite the stars? ” These and other topics have been written by the same lyricists who developed the song “The City of Stars” that sound in “La La Land”.
